Climate Type
Costa Rica consists of a tropical and subtropical climate. This means that the country experiences one major dry season and one major wet season. The dry season for Costa Rica happens between the months of December and April while the wet, or rainy, season occurs between May and November. Although this climate affects the entire country, the temperatures tend to be slightly lower in the highlands due to the elevation. The climate is fairly uniform across the entire country due to its small size. As seen in the map below, the country has a uniform temperature across the plains while the mountains, as mentioned earlier, tend to have slightly lower temperatures due to the elevation.Seasonality
The average range of temperature in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, is about 20 degrees Celsius. For all of us who don't know anything about the centigrade system, it comes to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. the average annual rainfall for San Jose is about 70.5 inches of rain. San Jose is located in the center of the country, while the next city I'm about to mention in on the northern most tip of Costa Rica, on the border of Nicaragua: Los Chiles. The average range of temperature for Los Chiles is about 27 degrees Celsius, about 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The average annual rainfall in Los Chiles is just under 6 inches. As you can guess, the capital of city of San Jose is located at a higher elevation than the city of Los Chiles. The numbers between San Jose and Honolulu are quite different when you look at the big picture. Honolulu has an average annual rainfall of about 39 inches compared to the 70.5 of San Jose, while the average annual temperature of Honolulu is about 25 degrees Celsius, or 77 degrees Fahrenheit compared to the 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). Honolulu is the hotter and drier climate out of the two, but elevation may play a key role in that. The seasonality in San Jose is only extreme when dealing with rainfall. The temperatures throughout the year are all within a degree or two of every other month during the year, but the rainfall skyrockets throughout the months of May to October and sometimes through November.
There is a lot of good information here! Though Costa Rica is very different from Bangladesh there are similarities that I can see. For one thing the climates seem to be very similar in that they have mainly tropical and subtropical areas. Also, in Costa Rica seasonality is based on rainfall as it is in Bangladesh. Good job!
